About Brittany
Brittany Nettles (she/they) is a choreographer, dancer, and creative person from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They received their BFA in Dance from Point Park University with a concentration in jazz. In her time at university she had the opportunity to perform works by Kiesha Lalama and Colleen Hooper. Currently based in Pittsburgh, their work features interdisciplinary choreography for performances and film. Most recently they present a work in progress Aphrodite with PearlArts' Charrette program. She also performs with Shana Simmons Dance Company. Brittany aspires to continue to create and perform for the rest of her life.
Brittany's work as an artist is a world of vibrant colors, creative play, unfiltered thoughts, and exploration of truth. This is presented through her contemporary movement style, creating work that centers queer, femme identities. She also uses a multitude of mediums in her work.
Artist Statement
Brittany's mission as an artist is to explore and reveal the complexities of the human experience through innovative, interdisciplinary art for diverse audiences. Her vision is to inspire people to be more critical in their perceptions of themselves, their communities, and the world at large.
